Congratulations to fellow eXtasy authors Gabriella Bradley and Taryn Jameson on their latest release!

Book 5 in the Veiled Eliminators Series

Blurb:

Turn about is fair play when death is the hand you have been dealt.

Thirty-three has no past--at least none that she can remember. Raised by the Institute from infancy, she has been through hell and back due to a training incident that took her limbs and almost killed her.

Paired with her cybernetic tiger, Belle, Thirty-three is selected to eliminate the terrorist, Dominic Durant, and his men, and regain control of the refueling station on the planet Zahiria. Things go awry when instead of following orders meekly, she retaliates against the one man she hates most.

Excerpt:

"Behold the portal." Schultz gestured at the monstrosity with pride.

She almost snorted. "My escape to freedom? That thing? It looks like an oversized ugly picture frame."

They led her to it, then Rob appeared with Belle on a leash. When the big cat saw her, she pulled free and bounded toward her. Thirty-three bent and kissed her on the nose. Belle was wearing her metal armor. Good. She hated the thought of anything happening to her sweet friend. The cladding would protect her most vulnerable body parts.

Schmidt touched her arm, and when she turned to face him, he handed her a small dagger while throwing a furtive glanced at Schultz. "WLQ wants indisputable proof that the terrorists have been terminated. We cannot allow a phaser, as their bodies would be disintegrated but I refuse to send you completely unarmed. Good luck, Susan."

"Thank you, sir." Susan gazed down at the knife. The hilt fit perfectly in her hand, the blade almost four inches long and the edge looked razor sharp. How incredibly magnanimous of you, asshole. It would have been much simpler to use a phaser.

She increased her chances of being caught by leaving a trail of bodies in her wake. She sure as hell wouldn't order Belle to attack a human to make it look like as though an animal mauled the terrorists. The tiger had never been fed raw meat. One taste of human flesh and blood could turn Belle into a killer. If that happened, te big cat would have to be put down. Fuck that.

"Are you ready?" Schultz drew close to her, making her feel crowded.

"Yes." Susan tried to ignore his nearness and looked at the grey oval, which was now glowing.

In the center, a mass of what resembled mercury, swirled and flowed, then merged with colorful darts shooting across it. Rob had left, and Schmidt went to stand behind the glass partition in the computer room, leaving Schultz standing beside her. Schultz placed a hand on her arm, lightly caressing her. That feeling of nausea pooled in her belly. She could almost read his thoughts by the look on his face.

"Such a delectable body. It is a shame you will not longer be with us." He dropped his hand, an imperious smiled on his face. "Take Belle and step into the portal."

This week in The Loft: Christian romance author Katy Eeten!

Joining me today in The Loft is fellow Wisconsite, Katy Eeten! Katy is the author of three Christian romances, including "Blast from Her Past," "Christmas in Meadow Creek," and "A Heart Held Captive." A bit of Katy Eeten trivia: Katy once threw out the first pitch at a Milwaukee Brewers game! She lives in southeast Wisconsin with her husband, a Youth Pastor, and her two school-age children.

Author Katy Eeten

S:  Good morning, Katy! Thanks so much for joining me today.

Why write romance?

K:  I enjoy a good love story. It’s so fulfilling to watch two people that are meant to be together slowly discover each other and overcome obstacles to fall in love. To be part of creating a story like that is so satisfying to me.

S:  (Smiles.) I believe that to write good romance, you have to believe in love.

If you could live during any period of time, which would you choose and why?

K:  I would choose the 1980s because I grew up in that decade and loved it! It was before technology totally took over our lives, but we still had the main modern conveniences – running water, television, cars, heat, A/C... I really think it was a simpler, safer and more innocent time than we’re living in now, and I often wish my kids could have a similar experience.

S:  (Nods.) We had the chance to witness the before and after the technology explosion. Those that missed the before can't truly appreciate the after.

If someone wrote a song about you, what would be the title?

K:  "Indecisive Introvert" or "Blessed Beyond Belief."

S:  If a genie granted you one wish, what would it be?

K:  To alleviate human suffering. I know God has a purpose and plan for everything, but since this genie question is totally hypothetical and I am only a human, I would wish to see things like cancer, human trafficking, abuse, bullying, and war completely obliterated from this earth. Oh, and for a more lighthearted answer to this question, I’d ask for a self-cleaning house!

S:  (Chuckles.) We all could use a self-cleaning house!

What do you crave?

K:  Chocolate (Dove Dark), warm weather, and sleep.

S:  You are offered one of the following gifts: A day back in time, a glimpse into heaven, or perfect health. Which would you choose and why?

K:  Wow, what a choice! A day back in time would be awesome, but can I repeatedly go back to that day anytime I want? Because being able to see my dad alive whenever I want would definitely be my choice. But if the day is just a day and then it’s over, and the heavenly glimpse is fleeting, I would take perfect health, as that would last a lifetime.

S:  (Nods.) Good reasoning!

Tell me about your book, "A Heart Held Captive."

K:  Sure. Here's the blurb--

Physical therapist Cole Pearson has had his share of shallow relationships. But after a year spent soul searching, his eyes are opened to what he really wants in life—and in a relationship. When he learns that ER nurse Emily Jenkins has volunteered to pay for a foster child’s therapy, he is drawn to her generous spirit. If only he can convince her to take things beyond their casual conversations at the clinic.

Emily is a prisoner to her past mistakes and insists on paying a price God never asked her to pay. When she finally allows herself to grow closer to Cole, her flawed beliefs are exposed and her wounded heart begins to mend. But when tragedy strikes, Emily is sent into a tailspin. Can Cole help her move past the guilt and grasp the freedom of God’s grace, or will she revert back to the captivity of her old ways and shut Cole out of her life for good?

S:  Wow. That sounds like an emotional journey! Where can readers buy your book?

It's release day! Cult is now on sale!

Blurb:
It’s supposed to be a simple assignment. A quick trip to a South American country for an “in and out” fact-finding mission. Unfortunately, the cult has other ideas.

When college students begin disappearing from American campuses, a notorious cult, God’s Delight, is the primary suspect. God’s Delight has been hosting shows featuring sex, drugs, and rock and roll around the country, and young people are flocking to them.

Among the missing is the President’s goddaughter, and he wants answers. When he asks Agent Cade Matthews, a member of a secret covert organization, to find her, the mission appears fairly straightforward. Find the God’s Delight compound, determine whether a welfare check on American cult members is warranted, and get out. Simple. Clean. Easy.

Cade sends newly-married Agents Dianna Murphy and Anders Mark to the University of Wisconsin to follow the trail to God’s Delight, but when they wind up in Bolivia, things go sideways. Suddenly, what appeared to be nothing more than a simple in-and-out could cost Dianna her life. When an Agency extraction is ordered, chaos erupts, and the question becomes, will anyone survive?

Excerpt:
“But everyone can leave when they want, right?”

Tillie cocked her eyebrow, clearly amused. “Of course. But why would they? This is paradise.”

“It is indeed, darling Miranda,” drawled a deep sultry voice. A tall, well-built man dressed in a white cossack, a thick wooden cross draped around his neck, wrapped his arms around her and kissed her cheek. His loose, long blonde hair framed a tan, handsome face with a strong nose and a wicked, full-lipped grin. He turned his piercing blue eyes toward Dianna and smiled. “Hello,” he said.

The man studied her, his expression predatory.

Dianna shifted uncomfortably. So, Tillie is using another name. Meaning she’s undercover. Noted. Dianna stuck out her hand and said. “Hi, I’m Bennie. I’m one of the students from Wisconsin working over at the orphanage. You were kind enough to allow us to stay here.”

The man took her hand and stroked it, his expression suddenly thoughtful. “Tell me, Bennie from Wisconsin, what do you think of my paradise?” His hand moved to her lower arm.

Dianna flushed. My paradise? Is this Reverend John? “It’s beautiful. Peaceful. But hot. And humid. Really humid.” She gazed up into the man’s eyes, somewhat stunned at the lust she found there. My God, he looks like he wants to devour me. Dianna quickly looked away.

The man chuckled. “You get used to it. But we keep the air-conditioning on in the dormitories for the newbies and limit their time in the sun. And of course, we all take a siesta during the hottest part of the day if we need one.” He released her arm. “We worship at day’s end when the air begins to cool. Otherwise, things get a little…sweaty.”

He leaned down and kissed her on the cheek, gently tugging her hair. Then he walked away. Dianna’s gaze did not leave him as children followed him, playfully competing for his attention. Just like Jesus.

The week in The Loft: Author Kimberly Packard

Joining me today in The Loft is author Kimberly Packard. Kimberly is an award-winning author of edgy women's fiction. Her debut novel, "Phoenix," was named "Best General Fiction of 2013" by the Texas Association of Authors. A graduate of the University of North Texas, Kimberly has worked in public relations and communications for nearly 20 years. She resides in North Texas with her husband, her cat, Oliver, and Charlie, a yellow lab.

Author Kimberly Packard

S:  Welcome, Kimberly! Thanks so  much for joining me today.

Tell me, what is writing to you?

K:  Writing is like breathing. I can’t not do it. If I go too long without writing, I get fidgety, with this weird nervous energy. As authors, we have something extra inside of us and writing gives us the ability to release that.

S:  (Nods.) Even on my "days off," I find myself writing. It's almost instinctive. I simply can't turn it off. My friends hate when I whip out my phone in the middle of a conversation and start typing...

Where do you do your best thinking?

K:  In my car, which makes coming up with a good idea a bit dicey. Thank goodness for the voice recorder app. My first book was almost entirely written in my mind during my daily commute. I love long road trips, especially if I’m driving. That’s where I can just focus on the road and my thoughts.

S:  (Smiles.) Since I work from home, I no longer have a daily commute, but you're right. That was a great time to be alone with my thoughts.

If there is such a thing as reincarnation, what would you like to return to earth as and why?

K:  I’m pretty sure my cat is a reincarnated human, so I want to come back as a cat. Oliver has the perfect life. He gets to sleep 20 hours a day, play with his dog, his parents love him and care for him, and he’s cute enough to raise lots of mischief and not get in trouble for it. I think Oliver must have been the Dalai Lama or something in his previous life. He’s got it that good!

S:  (Laughs.) I always tease my sister about her cats. They truly have a great life. I think they eat better than I do!

A paranormal invites you to host a dinner with five guests, all prominent figures in history who are now deceased. Who would you invite ?

K:  Edgar Allen Poe--I’ve always been fascinated by his stories and poems. Dorothy Parker--As a fierce, feisty member of the Algonquin Roundtable, I loved her short stories. I can imagine that she and I would cause a lot of trouble. William Chaucer--Because I would love to know what he had planned for the rest of the Canterbury Tales. Lucille Ball--Because we need someone to liven up the room once Edgar gets droning on and on about how awful the world is. William Shakespeare--Because he’s freaking Shakespeare!

S:  Wow. I'd like to be a fly on that wall! I imagine Lucy would be pelting some of the others with bread before the end of the evening!

You are offered one of the following gifts: a day back in time, a glimpse into heaven, or perfect health. Which would you take?

K:  I’d take a day back in time. Ten years ago, I lost one of my best friends, and biggest writing cheerleaders, in a sudden accident. We’d been close friends since we were in Kindergarten and I miss her dearly every day. I’d love to just have one more day with Sutton, having a glass of wine, laughing about silly nonsense and enjoying each other’s company.

S:  I'm sorry for your loss. That kind of friendship is so rare these days. And when it's ripped away like that, it has got to be painful.

Tell me about your latest book, "Vortex."

K:  Sure. "Vortex" is a story of family, love, identity and determination set against the thrilling backdrop of Tornado Alley. Here's the blurb--

Constant spinning, round and round and round, temperatures rise and fall from stifling heat to chilling cold, emotions run high in anticipation of what will happen next… there’s a fine line between surviving a tornado and falling in love.

A close encounter with a tornado, during the final months of her doctoral studies, jogs a lost memory to the surface. Desperate to relive the vision and find answers, storm chaser Elaina Adams continually puts her safety at risk by placing herself in the path of dangerous storms.

When betrayal strikes, Elaina is forced to pair up with Robert Tucker. “Tuck” owns a storm chasing tour group and only cares about two things: chasing tornadoes and making his next buck.

Seth Maddux was climbing his way to the top as the star meteorologist for the Forecast channel, but an embarrassing outburst on camera sent his career on a downward spiral. Hoping to reignite his career with a promising field assignment, he meets Elaina and a different kind of flame sparks.

Family secrets surface and passions explode in this twister of a tale.

S:  Storm chasing is such a fascinating backdrop! This sounds like a great story! Where can readers find your book?

This week in The Loft: Author Linda O'Connor!

Joining me today in The Loft is romance author Linda O'Connor. By day, Linda is a physician at an Urgent Care Clinic. By night, she puts pen to paper, embracing her love of romantic comedy. A best-selling author, Linda reveals her medical  knowledge in her fast-paced, sexy romances. Her Rx for life: Laugh every day. Love every minute.

Author Linda O'Connor
S:  Welcome, Linda!

You are a physician by occupation, so why write romance?

L:  I write romance because I love the happily-ever-after endings. I also wanted to target a female audience because women are usually the ones who see a physician. Males generally are at the doctor because a girlfriend or partner or spouse or mom encouraged them to go. I want to educate and empower readers to take ownership of their health, and writing for a female audience seemed the best way to start. I write romantic comedies because I love being in a fun head space when I’m writing. I think laughter is essential to great health!

S:  I imagine after a day of treating patients, that HEA is a welcome respite!

Where do you do your best thinking?

L:  Outside! I love walking and cycling and do my best thinking when I’m relaxed and exercising. Either that or when I’m lying awake at 3 a.m.

S:  That laying awake at night is a common theme among authors!

What is your favorite day of the year?

L:  Any day I can sit outside and write is my favorite day of the year!

S:  What do you crave?

L:  Skittles.

S:  (Chuckles.) You and my son. He seems prefer that over chocolate, which just boggles my mind!

You are offered one of the following gifts--A day back in time, a glimpse into heaven, or perfect health. Which would you take and why?

L:  I would pick perfect health. The less I have to rely on doctors, the better!

S: (Smiles.) No offense, but I think we all feel that way!

Tell me about your book, "Behind the Bench."

L:  Behind the Bench is a medical romantic comedy. Here's the blurb--

Dr. Danni Angelo is the team physician for the Clarington Quakes hockey team. She’s worked hard to earn the players’ respect, but the new coach, Trey Mason, is stirring things up, and Danni’s worried her job may be in jeopardy.

Trey finds Danni…distracting. Beauty, brains, and sexy moves on the ice have him uncomfortably attracted. He’s the new guy on the block. He has a reputation to build and a standard to set. The last thing he needs is a complication.

When the team spirals out of control and Danni and Trey get caught up in a drug scandal, things heat up on and off the ice. It’s a whole new game plan…Behind the Bench.

S:  Oh, I love sizzling romances! Where can readers buy your book?

This week in The Loft: Author Tina Swayzee McCright!

Joining me today in The Loft is romance author Tina Swayzee McCright. Tina writes romantic cozy mysteries. Her books feature a determined woman trying to solve a crime with the help of her wacky friends and the support of a good man. She lives in Arizona with her huband, "The Irish Charmer." They enjoy slow dancing in unusual locations and playing with their granddaughter. Prior to joining the ranks of "author," Tina was an educator for 25 years.

Tina Swayzee McCright

S:  Thanks so much for joining me today in The Loft, Tina!

Tell me, why do you write romance?

T:  Romance adds a powerful emotion to stories that most people can relate to on some level. Solving a mystery is fun, but it’s better when there are moments the heroine can laugh with her friends, and it is much better when she can also ride that roller coaster of emotions with the man she falls in love with. We all want to know if they get beyond the conflict keeping them apart. And in a mystery, we want to know if they will live long enough to enjoy the happily ever after.

S:  (Smiles.) Love does make the world go 'round, even when trying to solve a mystery. As always thought Sherlock Holmes needed a little more romance!

Complete this sentence, "Writing is..."

T:  ...my bliss! No kidding. I always felt like there was something missing in my life. I tried all sorts of hobbies and businesses in an attempt to fill that void. It wasn’t until I started writing that the feeling went away. I like to think there was some divine intervention guiding me.

S: (Nods.) We need to write, don't we? I think that's hard for some to understand.

Where do you do your best thinking?

T:  Near water. My husband and I love taking beach vacations. While watching the waves hit the shore, my mind clears, and I can easily jot down ideas for my next book. The problem is I live in Arizona—not exactly a hop, skip, or jump to the ocean, so I take long showers when I’ve written myself into a corner. It eventually works. The problem is not forgetting what I came up with before I dry off and grab a notebook. I need to search Amazon for a waterproof note pad.

S:  I have been known to flee the most awkward of places to write down an idea. I think it's the curse of being a writer.

What is the best advice you have ever given?

T:  Don’t make life-altering decisions when angry. A friend of mine was mad at her boyfriend and almost broke up with him. I gave her this advice, and she realized there was a better way to deal with the situation. They have now been happily married for years.

S:  What is the best advice you have been given?

T:  My grandmother once told me not to make major decisions when you don’t know what to do. She was right. I have found that if I wait just a little longer, the information I need to make a decision will come to me.

S:  What inspires your flights of fantasy?

T:  Bon Jovi’s, "It’s My Life." I once read that they wrote the song when they wanted to change the direction of the group and were facing resistance from the music industry. I can relate to that because the book industry tries to pigeonhole authors. When I play that song, I feel free, without limits, and am inspired to write what speaks to me. I have visions of flying.

S:  Tell me about your book, "Euphoria Lane."

T:  This is the first book in my Homeowners' Association Romantic Cozy Mystery Series. It's a Kindle Scout winner, which is like the American Idol for books.

Here's the blurb--

How far will one person go to stop the HOA?

Andi Stevenson knew her life would never be the same after purchasing her new condo on Euphoria Lane. On day one, she finds the body of the Homeowners' Association president. Day two, she discovers the property manager is her former fiance. Day three, the new president begins his campaign of violation letters to force her to move. Day four, her sister, the owner of a detective agency, needs her help with the investigation of the murder. And day five, a full-scale neighborhood war!

S:  Wow. Sounds like there's a lot going on at Euphoria Lane! Where can readers buy your book?

T:  "Euphoria Lane" is available at Amazon and is free on Kindle Unlimited.  Here's the link--https://tinyurl.com/y8cnculy
